About The EDF Energy Green Rigg Windfarm Community Fund

The EDF ER Green Rigg Windfarm Community Benefit Fund supports applications from community and voluntary groups working within a 10-mile radius of the Wind Farm, priority is given to those within a 3-mile radius.

Priority is given to those that benefit residents from within a three-mile radius and from parishes that partly fall within the priority area: Birtley, Corsenside, Kirkwhelpington, Bavington, Chollerton.

 

Application Considerations

Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 are available, with up to £9,000 in exceptional circumstances.

  • Priority will be given to capital items with a tangible, lasting benefit, including improvements to community buildings. Running costs and revenue funding will only be considered in exceptional cases.
  • Requests that are charitable, educational, philanthropic and benevolent in purpose.
  • Grants to community and voluntary organisations and schools, for non-statutory purposes only.
  • Biodiversity and habitat conservation.
  • Energy conservation and increased use of renewables.
